Privacy policy

This policy explains which personal data are processed when you visit this website, in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) in force since 1 September 2023.

Data processed when visiting the website

The website uses no cookies of any kind, does not track visits and loads its fonts from its own server, without relying on external services. The only processing takes place on the server hosting the website (Infomaniak Network SA, Geneva, Switzerland), which automatically records in a technical log the IP address, the date and time of the visit, the page requested and the browser type. These data serve the security and operation of the service; the host keeps them for a few days (at least seven, according to its own information) and then deletes them automatically.

Appointment request form

Anyone completing the form provides their first name and surname, telephone number, possibly their email address, whether they are already a patient, a preferred time and a brief reason. These data are used exclusively to call the person back and arrange the appointment. They are sent by the website's server (Infomaniak Network SA, Switzerland) to the practice's mailbox as an email, normally encrypted in transit, but not end-to-end like messages between HIN mailboxes. The practice mailbox is hosted by HIN (Health Info Net AG, Switzerland). The practice deletes the request no later than 30 days after the appointment has been arranged; anything needed for your care goes into your medical record. The content of the request is not stored on the website's server. To stop automated submissions, the server counts the requests from the same connection for one hour, as a hash of the IP address and without the content of the request. The form is not intended for detailed health information: a notice next to the fields reminds you of this. The legal basis is consent, given by ticking the box before sending.

Contact by telephone and email

Anyone who contacts the practice by telephone or writes to the email address provides personal data, sometimes including health data. These data are processed exclusively to handle the request and the care relationship, are covered by medical professional secrecy (art. 321 of the Swiss Criminal Code) and are not disclosed to third parties without consent, except where required by law. The address studiosciolli@hin.ch belongs to the HIN network, the encrypted email system of Swiss physicians. We recommend not sending detailed health information by ordinary email: for clinical matters, the telephone or a consultation is preferable.

Medical record

The data collected in the course of treatment are kept in the medical record in accordance with the FMH guidelines and the Health Act of the Canton of Ticino, which requires records to be kept for at least ten years after the end of treatment (art. 67 para. 4). They are not part of the website and do not pass through it.

Transfer of data abroad

The website itself does not transfer personal data abroad. The one exception is the map in the Contact section, which loads from Google only after you click “Show the map”. With that click, your browser connects to the servers of Google LLC (USA), which receives your IP address and technical browser data in accordance with Google's privacy policy; the transfer is based on the consent given by clicking. Google LLC is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. If you prefer not to connect, you can use the address given on the website.

Rights of data subjects

Everyone has the right to ask whether and which data concerning them are processed, to obtain their rectification or erasure within the limits of the law, to object to the processing and to receive their data in a common electronic format. Requests should be addressed to the controller at the addresses given above. You may also contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), Feldeggweg 1, 3003 Bern.
